Schedia in Greek means "Raft".
"Schedia", founded in 1987, is a non-profit organization seeking to:
- Improve the living conditions of marginalized social groups in Greece and abroad
- Defend children's and women's rights
- Promote artistic expression and experimentation as a means for social intervention
Since 1994, "Schedia" has focused its activities primarily on the use of art as a means to combat discrimination and social exclusion.
"Schedia" is an N.G.O. officially registered with the Greek Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Greek Ministry for Culture and the General Secretariat for Gender Equality.
"Schedia" is a member of:
- the Greek Network of Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) for Monitoring the Enforcement of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UN CRC)
- Founding member of the European Network D.E.C.E.T. (Diversity in Early Childhood Education and Training)
- Member of the European Network Eurochild
