The Center of Creative Actvities for the Promotion of Respect of Diversity, main activities aims at the ptomotion of respect for children’s rights, as they are described in International Convention for Children’s Rights, as well as in the greek law ratified it.
In February 2007 the municipality of Elefsina organized a carnival parade in whish the center participated along with many other organizations in Elefsina.
1. The child shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of the child choice.
1. States Parties recognize the right of the child to rest and leisure, to engage in play and recreational activities appropriate to the age of the child and to participate freely in cultural life and the arts.
2. States Parties shall respect and promote the right of the child to participate fully in cultural and artistic life and shall encourage the provision of appropriate and equal opportunities for cultural, artistic, recreational and leisure activity.
For two weeks prior to the parade, each of the Center’s programs focused on various form of art, addressing children, based on themes.
On the night of the parade, the children arrived with their parents.One of the most important things was the participation of families from various cultural background.
Together they danced through the streets of Elefsina, proudly wearing their costumes and holding playing instruments and banners. They ended at the central square where the municipality had gathered to celebrate.
