(a)Cultural events for children
- From October 1987 to June 1994 the following workshops of an eight-month duration were held during the winter term for children:
- Painting and Sculpture
- Theatrical Expression
- Music
- Film-Video
- In collaboration with the General Secretariat for Equality cultural activities were organized in the following cities:
Zakynthos (June 1988)
Polygyros (July 1998)
Amfissa (July 1988)-
Ioannina (September 1988)
Edessa (October 1988)
Trikala (October 1988)
Athens (April 1989)
- In May 1995 "Schedia" participated in a series of Ministry of Culture
events "WITH A BOOK I FLY" with the programme entitled
"From Images and Sounds...to Books Playgrounds" The
programme included games aimed at the five senses and ended with the
construction of the "biggest book in the world" which in turn constituted
the setting for the creation of audio-visual works by the children themselves.
Two thousand children participated in this event.
- In June 1999 a cultural event engaging children in artistic activities
was organized at Koumoundourou Sq. It was part of a program supporting
the teachers and instructors of the area, in regard to Supportive
Education through Creative Activities. The project was materialized
in collaboration with the Aristoteleio University of Thessaloniki.
- In June 2000 a cultural event was organized at Nea Smyrni Park entitled
"Magic Playground", with the aim of providing practical
skills to the female trainees participating in the "Development of Municipal
Areas for Banqueting and Recreational Purposes" program of Panteios
University.
- In May 2001 a cultural event was prepared for children at Technopolis,
Gazi area, in collaboration with the Municipality of Athens. It was
entitled "Heliotropio" [Sunflower].
- In June 2001 another cultural event for children was organized in
collaboration with the Municipality of Paleo Faliro, named "Spring
Travels with Phloesvos". It consisted of various artistic activities
in which one thousand children participated.
- In February 2002, in collaboration with the Municipality of Paleo
Faliro, a number of cultural events for children were held, under the
name of "Carnival Games".
- In 2004, a series of cultural events named "It rains colours"
took place in the kindergartens and primary schools of Eleusis. These
events were organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Eleusina
within the framework of the Elele social intervention project which
is co-financed by the Municipality of Eleusis and the Bernard van Leer
Foundation.
(b) International events-conferences
- In March 1989 "Schedia" organized a three-day European meeting on
"Films by children" in collaboration with the National
Committee for the Film and Television Year. The meeting in which six
European countries (England, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and
Greece) took part included screenings of films made by children aged
6-18 and talks by representatives of organization in this field.
- In June 1996 a European Meeting was held on the subject of "
Social Integration of Immigrant Children through Art" in collaboration
with the European agencies ACEPP (France) and VBJK(Belgium), the Municipality
of Athens Literary Centre and with co-financing from the European Union
within the framework of the SOCRATES (COMENIUS programme) initiative.
- In November 2001 a Conference was held in Athens on the issue of
"Respect of Children's Rights in Early Childhood Education".
The Conference was co-organised by the Center of Research on Equality
Issues (KETHI) and financed by the Bernard van Leer Foundation and the
General Secretariat for Equality of the Greek Ministry of Interior Affairs.
- In June 2003 a meeting named "Improvement of the Working Methods
of Integration Professionals" was held in Athens. It was realized
within the framework of the project Artists in Action of the EQUAL European
initiative. Representatives of organizations from 5 European countries
participated in this event.
- In November 2004 a meeting named "We and the others"
- Respect for diversity in Education , was held in relation to the launching
of the Greek publication of the book "The view of the Yeti" by Michel
Vandenbroeck. This event was co-organized by Schedia, the Society of
Human Sciences and "Nissos" publication company. Speakers from five
European countries (Belgium, France, Greece, the Netherlands, Scotland)
participated in the meeting. All of them were members of the Decet Network.
The meeting was financed by the Bernard van Leer Foundation.
